District Heating Network Expansion in Rotterdam – Waste Heat Utilization
AVR – AVI Rotterdam is advancing an innovative environmental solution that harnesses waste heat for district heating, expanding the district heating network in Rotterdam.
The project aims to utilize the available heat from the existing waste incineration plant at Brielselaan to supply heat to Rotterdam’s district heating network. As part of the design, the network is planned to extend to southern Rotterdam, providing a green, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly heating solution.
Project Scope:
✅ Engineering Development (BDEP) with Accurate Cost Estimate (±10%) – A rigorous design framework to evaluate the budget and ensure implementation.
✅ Waste Heat Emission System (WAS) – Adjustments and upgrades to the existing waste plant to optimize heat recovery.
✅ Heat Collection and Distribution System (WOS) – Installation of a new system to collect and transfer the heat to the city’s district heating network.
By utilizing waste heat, Rotterdam is promoting a smart and environmentally friendly heating solution, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve the city’s energy efficiency.
