A project in the field of
District Heating Network in Rotterdam

Heat Collection Station Project at Brielselaan – Part of the Rotterdam District Heating Network Expansion

The Brielselaan Heat Collection Station project is part of the expansion of the district heating network in Rotterdam, utilizing industrial waste heat to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.

Rotterdam is expanding its district heating network by connecting the southern and northern parts of the city, using residual heat from industries in the Botlek area and the AVR – AVI Rotterdam waste incineration plant. As part of the project, a new heat collection station will be constructed, enabling enhanced energy efficiency and heat distribution to the city’s urban sector.

The Station Includes:

Two water pumps for heat transfer (400kW, 10kV, 690V, 600 m³/h each).
Two heat exchangers with capacities of 35MW and 16MW.
Three additional frequency-controlled pumps.

Project Scope:

Advanced Engineering Development (BDEP) and Cost Estimation (±10%) – Detailed design for execution phase.
Technical Subcontract Preparation – Installation guidelines for the site.
Engineering Drawings (PFD & P&ID) – Detailed process diagrams.
Material & Heat Balances – Energy management optimization.
Equipment and Control Procurement – Including pumps, heat exchangers, substation, control valves, and other equipment.
3D Design for Piping, Civil, and Structural Systems3D-Piping, Civil & Structural Design.
Control & Safeguarding Philosophy – Safety and control design.
Subcontractor Management (Mechanical, E/I & Civil) – Managing subcontracting work.

With this project, Rotterdam will upgrade its district heating system, increase its energy independence, and reduce the city’s carbon footprint, all while efficiently utilizing existing resources.
